Heat Stress Maps Tauw

The heat stress map shows where the real urban hotspots are during extremely hot days. Municipal authorities can take targeted measures at these locations to protect residents from the health risks involved in heat stress.

Meteorologists generally expect average temperatures in the Netherlands to rise a few degrees in the decades ahead. In addition, the number of 30+ degree days will increase. Cities could prepare for these rising temperatures by using the heat stress map to take specific measures in the design of public spaces and incorporate such measures in spatial plans. Proper measures could reduce the temperature by a few degrees. The perceived temperature may even drop by up to 10 degrees.
