Water and Spatial Planning Studio, Helmond region

The building of a motorway on the north-east side of Helmond (the rhombus-shaped ring road around Eindhoven) will put a pressure on a reserved water storage area. The Water + Spatial Planning studio is studying the feasibility of inter-linking water and infrastructure taskings.

For the Diesdonk location, three variants were drawn up during the studio in which the N279 plays a structuring role in the realisation of the water storage and the new regional business park BZOB. For the Bakelse Beemden natural area, four options were drawn up that set out different courses with respect to the spatial development and the water storage possibilities of the Bakelse Aa tributary.

Application of the expert workshop method. Linking different projects may potentially generate a cost-saving effect.
