The Peelse Loop

The construction of a northern ring road, part of which is to run parallel to the Peelse Loop stream, constitutes a major tasking for the municipality of Gemert-Bakel. The municipal authorities and the district water board are also trying to find a solution for part of the Wolfsveld industrial estate, which covers a stretch of some 60 metres of the Peelse Loop. This hampers the intended restoration of the stream.

Results

A vision has been developed for the area with input from all parties involved, which answers the question of what the area will look like some 10 to 20 years from now. Based on this vision, solutions and measures have been devised with respect to the full restoration of the brook, the design of the ecological transition zone, and the construction of the northern ring road. Four planning variants have been devised for the Wolfsveld estate.

Application of the expert workshop method. The joint exploration of solution strategies, within a short timeframe (two meetings), has generated short-term and long-term measures.
