Imagine an Essche Stroom Stream
Restructuring the landscape around the Essche Stroom stream has created more room for Nature, for water discharge and storage, and for recreational activities. One of the premises for this area was “looking to the future with an eye for the past”.

The “ARC, ruimtelijke ontwerpen met water” [ARC, spatial designs involving water] pilot study has adopted a creative approach to portray past ways of dealing with water in the Groene Woud scenic area.
These discoveries have been applied to the Essche Stroom tasking, as an inspiration to the planning process. The ways in which water has been dealt with in the past turn out to be quite helpful in resolving the contemporary water tasking. Factoring in cultural history in the planning boosts the plan’s spatial quality.
