From parking to park at TU Campus in Delft
Virtually the entire car park at the Department of Architecture campus of Delft University of Technology was covered in concrete, with only nine cherry trees. These trees had succumbed to the parking pressure and needed to be removed. For that reason, nine new tree species were selected that are resistant to the sun and drought. Rather than planting the trees in a row, they were distributed over the premises, thus creating a greener and more diverse vista. For each tree, underground room was created underneath three parking spaces, in order to allow the roots to grow.
