Heat
Heat records and heatwaves have become household concepts. As a result of climate change, temperatures are going up and summers are becoming warmer. Heat is one of the themes addressed in the Delta Plan for Spatial Adaptation, in addition to drought, waterlogging, and flooding. A well-known effect of heat is heat stress, which may make the elderly and other vulnerable groups quite ill. However, our infrastructure, our supply of drinking water, the quality of our drinking water, and our labour productivity also suffer under extreme heat.
