Climate-proof Súdwest-Fryslân
The Súdwest-Fryslân region must be rendered water-resilient and climate-proof by 2050. This calls for a sound climate adaptation strategy in this rural area. This project is focused on ecologically and economically sustainable solutions.
Project objective
The goal of this project is to develop a climate adaptation strategy in this rural region. The strategy will also set out technological requirements, financial business models, and relevant policy preconditions. Subsequently, the participants can work on rendering the regional agriculture sector economically and ecologically smart and climate adaptive.
Implementation
This project involves the development of several components:
- An integrated working method;
- Climate-adaptive measures for village centres and commercial estates;
- Business models in interconnection with climate adaptation of the agricultural and rural economy.
Results
- The LIFE-IP Climate-Resilient Súdwest-Fryslân Roadmap is an initial elaboration of the approach to accelerate climate adaptation in Súdwest-Fryslân.
- The document Progress Report of the Roadmap (pdf, 580 kB) provides an update on the implementation of the roadmap to date. The report concludes that the project is on track in terms of content: during the research phase, a substantial amount of data, practical experience, and insights have been gathered.
