Atelier Oranje Polder

The goal of the Oranje polder pilot is to resolve the water tasking in combination with restructuring greenhouse farming and other spatial developments in the polder, and possibly in combination with developments in the neighbouring Oranjebuiten polder.

Results

Forms of cultivation, the division of roles and responsibilities, and types of damage are explored on the basis of the water and damage model used by the Delfland district water board to gain insight into water issues. Solutions are sought in the retention, discharge, and storage of water, and reduction of the impact.

In two atelier sessions, the municipality, district water board, and entrepreneurs (market gardeners) have made concrete agreements on interventions in the water management of the polder under consideration. The results of the two sessions have been incorporated into the municipal policy and implemented by the municipal council.
