Cool Towns Roadmap
The Cool Towns Roadmap comprises a step-by-step plan for drawing up a strategy to combat urban heat stress, in order to improve cities’ resilience against the impact of climate change. The roadmap links to guidelines for organising a workshop, to heat maps, to model heat stress projects, and to a catalogue of potential measures.

How can the roadmap be used?
The guidelines help municipalities and other organisations to implement measures that reduce heat stress in their specific situations. The step-by-step plan comprises an explanation of what heat stress entails and how to identify locations that are prone to heat stress. The next step shows the best way to reduce heat stress in a particular urban environment. The subsequent case studies provide practical examples. The final overview of existing policy frameworks can be used to embark on individual development plans and strategies.
Who has developed the roadmap?
The Cool Towns Roadmap has been developed by fourteen European partners from the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. Cool Towns is supported by the European Interreg 2 Mers Seas Zeeën programme.
