Database of Adaptation Measures
The Database of Adaptation Measures helps you select measures to adapt your environment to the changing climate. The database contains a wide range of practical information on what adaptation measures do, how effective they are and what you need to take into account in their design, construction and maintenance. This puts you in a better position to identify the most appropriate measures for your situation. In addition to knowledge from research and policy, the database compiles practical experiences.
For whom?
The database is primarily intended for professionals in the field of climate adaptation and for professionals active in the built environment and spatial planning. In addition, the database is a helpful source of information for researchers studying the effectiveness of adaptation measures. Furthermore, the database can be a source of inspiration for everyone interested in taking measures to adapt to the changing climate.
How can it be used?
The database helps you select the most appropriate measures for your situation. Use the filters to conduct a targeted search, for example, to find measures for a specific purpose or at a particular scale. With each measure, a visual overview shows the issues for which the measure is intended, the relevant layer of the adaptation pyramid, a cost estimate and an estimate of the space required for its construction. Furthermore, each measure comprises several components featuring clickable headings that provide more details.
Who has developed the database?
The idea for the database was conceived following the evaluation of the Climate Adaptation Incentive Scheme. Climate Adaptation Services (Stichting CAS) developed the first version in conjunction with Floris Boogaard, who is a lecturer in Spatial Transformations at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen and a consultant at Deltares.
