Guidelines for Climate-adaptive and Nature-inclusive Construction
The Guidelines for local and regional regulations for climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive construction, design, and management contain model regulations that show the options that are open to municipalities and other regional authorities for embedding climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive construction in their policies and plans.
For whom?
Policy staff of municipal and other regional authorities.
How can the guidelines be used?
The guidelines help municipal and other regional authorities to determine the best ways to address climate adaptation and nature inclusivity. The guidelines present examples of actual regulations that local and regional authorities may adapt to local situations. Requirements can be set down in various ways in local and regional regulations. Other options include setting down agreements in a covenant or introducing incentive measures.
The guidelines were updated in 2023. For example, the fact sheets and model regulations are now entirely geared to the new Environment Act. Furthermore, considerable attention is being paid to management, as this plays a key part in nature-inclusive construction.
Who has developed the guidelines?
The Guidelines for local and regional regulations for climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive construction, design, and management have been developed by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
