Guidelines for Safe Climate Adaptation
The Guidelines for Safe Climate Adaptation help Safety Regions become more involved in climate adaptation. Greater involvement will enable them to help boost societal coping capacities, reduce societal vulnerability to climate change and ensure emergency services’ access to and ability to respond to disasters. The Guidelines outline the part that Safety Regions can play in developments relating to climate adaptation.
For whom?
The Guidelines are intended for Safety Regions' consultants and managers.
How can they be used?
These Guidelines can help to further professionalise the advisory role of the Safety Regions and thus enhance collaboration in the field of climate adaptation with all partners, such as municipalities, provinces and regional water authorities. The Guidelines have been set up as a practical tool, providing a range of tips and examples, overviews of relevant documentation and concrete recommendations. Components of the Guidelines can also be used as part of a dialogue on climate adaptation with external partners. The ultimate goal of the Guidelines is to ensure the timely embedding of safety in spatial developments and in the built environment when adaptation measures are implemented.
Who has developed the Guidelines?
The Guidelines have been developed by the Nederlands Instituut Publieke Veiligheid (Netherlands Institute for Public Safety, NIPV).
