Natural Alliance
The Natural Alliance is a system approach for spatial planning and climate adaptation, geared to policy development and planning projects at the regional and urban levels. The approach is based on the unity of soil/subsoil, water, and Nature/greenery. It is an elaboration of the Layer Approach developed by the then Ministry for Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. The method offers an interactive process environment, enabling the effective use of guide models and other tools. It has evolved from projects set up in cities such as Nijmegen, Arnhem, Amersfoort, and Breda; as a result, it is practical in nature. An initial learning program has been developed for the method, which for the time being focuses on separate building blocks in the method.
