The Nature Ladder
The Nature Ladder provides tools for embedding climate adaptation, biodiversity, soil quality and water quality in the project organisations of construction projects or projects in the field of infrastructure.
For whom?
The Nature Ladder is intended for professionals engaged in construction and infrastructure projects.
How can the Ladder be used?
The tool serves as a conversation starter for project teams and a benchmark for assessing the nature-friendliness of a project. It also helps to implement actual measures. Upon opening the Nature Ladder, you are asked six questions. Each answer is scored, and at the end you will receive an overall score. Once you know where your project stands on the Nature Ladder, you can identify measures to climb one or more steps up the ladder. During your project, you complete the Nature Ladder several times in order to check whether you are advancing. The Nature Ladder is also available on a nice poster to be downloaded and printed.
Who developed the Nature Ladder?
The Nature Ladder was developed by construction companies DuraVermeer and Heijmans. Subsequently, it was transferred to the Delta Plan for Restoring Biodiversity foundation. Witteveen+Bos consulting engineers developed the web application.
