Urban greenery design guidelines

These nine practical design guidelines provide tools for the greening and heat-proofing of cities. At the urban level, they are focused on the preservation, maintenance, and accessibility of parks, urban woods, and green networks. At the park and street levels, the focus is on trees to create various micro climates. The creation of various micro climates enables residents to choose a spot in the sun, semi-shade, or shade.

The design guidelines are based on scientific expertise and fieldwork (including micro meteorological observations and interviews) in three Dutch cities. Landscape architects have tested their applicability in design processes. They are now ready for use in design practice.
